Glimpses of the God-Man
Bal Natu
All are paperback; Vol. IV & V $10; Vol.
VI. $12
Bal
Natu has been one of Babas close disciples since the early
1940s. A school teacher by profession, he spent his vacations
with Baba and was allowed intimate access to Him throughout his
life. Bal is a natural writer who has a gift for simplicity and
insight. He has an uncanny ability to combine lucid descriptions
of Babas activities with deep heart-felt moments when
Beloved Babas divinity and compassion shine forth. Bal is
able to capture the spiritual essence of a situation and deftly
show what Baba is accomplishing and how. Glimpses is a minutely
detailed biography, giving us intimate accounts of daily life
with Baba. Unfortunately Volumes I, II & III are now out of
print.
Volume IV covers the
nine months in Dehra Dun in 1953, during which Baba composed the
Universal Prayer and gave the first public declaration of His
Avatarhood.
Volume V comes from
the incredibly detailed notes Bal took as Baba traveled through
Hamirpur and Andhra in January and February of 1954. In it, he
gives us an almost hourly transcript of Babas doings. This
is the next best thing to having been there!
Volume VI takes us
from March 1954 to April of 1955, including the large gathering
in September 1954 known as the three incredible weeks.
At the end of this gathering Meher Baba gave His Final
Declaration and a short time later stopped using the alphabet
board to communicate, changing to a unique system of hand
gestures.
Throughout his account of
these historic events in Meher Babas life, Bal Natu has
sprinkled the heart-felt personal stories that allow us to meet
the faces in the crowd, one of the reasons this biography is so
special.
